Funding for blindness drug still unseen

Nova Scotia is now the only province in Canada not funding a drug which can prevent blindness.
Despite ongoing pressure from the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, Health Minister Maureen MacDonald says funding for Lucentis won’t happen this year.
“We have set up a drug management policy unit,” she said. “We’re going to be looking, over the next year, at some initiatives that we’re hoping will result in more affordable drugs and a better way top provide access for Nova Scotians.”
Prince Edward Island has announced its decision to include Lucentis in its provincial drug benefit list.
The drug is touted as the only treatment which prevents vision loss from wet age-related macular degeneration.
