Police report one weapon seized was a rare find
Halifax police were busy seizing weapons Friday night.
At 7 o’clock police executed a search warrant at a residence on Shamrock Drive in Dartmouth.
Police seized four long barrel guns, one of them with a bayonet, one handgun, ammunition and marijuana.
Sergeant Gordon Graham says they don’t find bayonets very often.
“In my experience it’s fairly uncommon,” he said. “It’s really the first one I’ve heard of that would have had a bayonet attached. It’s obviously an older type of weapon.”
A 24-year Dartmouth man was arrested without incident and will face weapon and drug related charges.
Police also seized a handgun hidden in the backseat of a car during a traffic stop on Akerley Boulevard in Dartmouth.
A 36-year old Cole Harbour man will face weapons related charge.
