Commons stabbing doesn’t phase students

A stabbing near the Halifax Common isn’t phasing many students at a nearby high school.

Police say the two groups involved in last night’s stabbing know each other through Citadel High School.

However the school board says none of the three young people charged are students there.

Duncan goes to Citadel and says he hears about weapons in the school.

“I’m aware that people bring weapons to school. Not just knives, but guns,” he says.

Johanna says she’s heard that too, but wonders if it’s more talk than action.

“I think you hear rumours,” she says. “I don’t think there’s ever been an actual incident.”

Most students say they feel safe, and if you don’t go looking for trouble, trouble won’t go looking for you.
