Admiral’s Cove Park to be sprayed for ticks

Admiral’s Cove Park in Bedford will be sprayed with pesticide in order to control an infestation of black-legged ticks.
The ticks carry the bacteria that cause Lyme disease and several people and pets in Bedford have been infected over the last few years.
On Tuesday, councillors voted to spend $15,000 on two treatments, one in the first week of July and one in the fall.
Some councillors weren’t happy about resorting to pesticide, but Coun. Tim Outhit (Bedford) tells Metro Halifax, the ticks have no natural enemy so this is a choice for human health.
