CNIB pondering human rights complaint over transit service

A national advocacy group for the visually impaired says Metro Transit is dragging its feet on key upgrades.
Duncan Williams of the Canadian National Institute for the Blind says his organization has been working with transit officials to improve service for partially sighted or blind riders.
He tells the Herald, progress is slow and he questions transit’s commitment to improvements.
Transit spokesperson Lori Patterson says accessibility is getting better. She points out all new buses have “larger font” destination curtains and more high-visibility yellow striping.
Williams says if the pace doesn’t pick up a human rights complaint may be in the works for HRM and Metro Transit.
