Roundabout has no place in north end: Blumenthal

The councillor for north end Halifax will introduce a motion tomorrow night to axe the plan for a roundabout in his district.

Jerry Blumenthal says he made up his mind because the residents made up theirs.

He says about 98 per cent of the feedback he’s received is firmly against the proposed roundabout at the intersection of Duffus, Novalea and Devonshire.

He says residents worry the traffic circle would bring more vehicles driving at a higher speed.

Blumenthal tells Metro news  he supports such traffic changeovers in some areas, but not  in a residential area with four seniors’ complexes and two schools nearby.

Blumenthal will have to get 50 per cent support for his motion. The roundabout plan was unanimously approved in principle a month ago.
