Homolka’s possible pardon sends MP’s scrambling

News that sex-killer Karla Homolka could be applying for a pardon within weeks has MP’s scrambling to find a way to head her off.
Public Safety Minister Vic Toews is urging opposition parties to agree to push the government’s pardon-killing bill through quickly.
The NDP isn’t in favor of fast-tracking, proposing its own bill to deny pardons that would reflect badly on the justice system but still allow a review of the government’s legislation.
CTV reports that Homolka, who took part in the killings of Ontario teens Kristen French and Leslie Mahaffy, is set to apply for a pardon on July 5th.
Now, the New Democrats are being attacked by a victims of crime organization.
Calling it a betrayel to those affected by crimes, the Canadian Crime Victims Foundation believes the NDP is going back and forth on this issue for the party’s own gain.
They want bill C-23 pushed through as-is, saying it serves every Canadian well.
But NDP Public Safety Critic Don Davies tells 660News the ones who are playing games are actually the Conservatives.
Davies says you can’t ram through legislation like that, and there are many things in the bill which are questionable.
