HST hike is going to hurt average Nova Scotians: critics

With two days to go before the HST hike takes effect in Nova Scotia, critics are lining up to get in their last minute licks at the NDP government for raising the tax.
Judith Andrew of the Canadian Federation of Independent Business says they are not looking forward to the tax hike.
“It’s really unfortunate and a bitter irony that on Canada Day, a day that we should be celebrating our wonderful country, every Nova Scotian has to dig deeper into his or her pocket,” Andrew said.
Andrew also says provincial tax officials have been slow in getting out information to businesses to prepare for the tax change.
Nova Scotia Liberals broke down some of the everyday things that will be affected. They say you’ll pay two dollars more for gas, three extra dollars on your phone/cable/internet bundle and nine dollars on a vehicle lease payment.
Liberal leader Stephen McNeil says he has no doubt the tax increase will hurt the individual Nova Scotian and average family every single day.
