Kids welcome summer vacation

Soggy weather didn’t dampen the spirits of children on the way to school Tuesday morning, because it was the last time they’d make the trek until September.

“I’m awesomely excited… like majorly,” says Paige who just finished Grade 6. “No more talking to teachers.”

It’s grading day and there wasn’t a student at Oxford School that didn’t seem excited about the prospect of two months of freedom.

Joel who just finished Grade 3 says he’s excited about Grade 4, but he has some things to take care of first.

“Going to Neptune Theatre and going to a lot of summer camps,” he says.

And although you’d think parents would be dreading the arrival of summer vacation, most said they’ll deal with it.

“Actually it should be pretty good,” says David Walsh, the parent of a Grade Three graduate. “He’s obviously happy to be finished school and we’re probably going to have him in a couple of programs, basketball and hopefully get him swimming.”
