New HRM strategy could bring artists back to Khyber

Halifax artists could soon have a place to call their own, right in the heart of downtown Halifax.
A new staff report will be presented to Halifax regional council tonight asking that a three-year operating strategy be approved to introduce new programs, offer studio space and allow Halifax artists to experience, produce and perform at the Khyber Building on Barrington Street.
The building needs up to one million dollars in repairs, mostly for an elevator to meet the accessibility code.
If approved artists could begin creating in the Khyber Building mid-way into year one of the strategy.
