Recently elected New Brunswick Premier David Alward is in Halifax this weekend.
The PC premier is attending the convention to install Jamie Baillie as the leader of the Nova Scotia Tories and there’s hope Alward’s good electoral fortune will rub off on his counterparts in this province.
Alward delivered a hopeful message to the party faithful gathered at the Cunard Centre.
He told members of the third place Nova Scotia PC party to stick with their plans, noting that the Liberals’ multi-billion dollar plan to sell NB Power was a big factor in his party’s landslide victory.
“Look at how the political landscape can change in one short year,” he said. “That is a very strong message to the Progressive Conservative Party of Nova Scotia.”
Alward’s Progressive Conservatives took power in September taking 42-of-55 seats in the legislature and making former New Brunswick premier Shawn Graham the first single-term premier in the province’s history.
The convention wraps up Saturday morning with an economic panel, followed by the final leadership vote.
