A meter-reader visiting an urban farm in Spryfield was attacked by a coyote Friday morning.
The man turned the corner outside a house on Rockingstone Road and encountered three coyotes.
Human-wildlife conflict biologist Mike Boudreau says two were on the ground, one up on a deck.
“The larger of the two on the ground kind of crouched down and made a leap for him and grabbed him by the arm,” says Boudreau. “He is all right.”
The animal tore the sleeve of his coat. It’s believed to be the first incident like this in Metro. A trapper has been called in to find and remove the animals.
DNR officials point out the farm had food sources around including apple trees. The animals might’ve been digging around for something to eat.
