VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – It seems most people in BC think childhood obesity is someone else’s problem.
A study performed by Ipsos Reid for the BC Medical Association shows close to 90 per cent of people are concerned, but more than half think their own kids are perfectly healthy.
Family doctor Barry Turchen says he sees it at his Abbotsford practice all the time. “You’re certainly a bit more tolerant of the problem in your own kids. If you yourself have weight problems, you will not be as conscious of the condition in your kids,” he points out.
A health plan between you and your family doctor is the first step in battling obesity.
