Health care workers ready to strike

Provincial finances may be tight but two groups of health workers say they will go on strike if they don’t get more than a one per cent pay raise.
Joan Jessome of the Nova Scotia Government Employees Union says members of her union sent that message after a pre-Christmas poll.
The Herald reports talks broke off with 3800 members including x-ray techs and physiotherapists, and negotiations also broke down with nurses employed by Capital Health.
Health Minister Maureen MacDonald says the province is sticking with its plan to limit public-sector raises to one per cent.
