Report recommends allowing all plastics for recycling

A report headed to regional council today recommends adding more plastics to the recyclables list.
Currently, only plastics labelled type 1 or 2 can be put on the curb for recycling but the report suggests adding four more types, which would include detergent bottles, yogurt and margarine containers, fruit containers and plastic cutlery.
The cost would be about $89,000 a year, but up to $30,000 could be recovered by exporting the material overseas.
Every other municipality in the province allows all types of plastics to be recycled.
Council will debate the report starting this afternoon.
