Tropical fish found swimming in Lunenburg

A Nova Scotia man got a little surprise when he stared into waters off his wharf and saw some wayward guests.

Clarence Grodin found about five blue fish swimming around a shallow area of Bayport in Lunenburg County.

He described them as looking like angel fish in the tail but skinny and grey in the large body.

It turns out they’re triggerfish – a tropical fish not normally found in Nova Scotia’s cool waters – which could have been drawn to the warmer-than-usual waters of the past month.
