Weekend crashes kill three

Three people are dead and one person is in critical condition after three severe car crashes over the weekend in Nova Scotia.
A 16-year-old Pictou County girl was transported to the QEII in critical condition after she lost control of the vehicle she was driving Saturday night.
The Coalburn native was travelling on Highway 347, also called Sherbrooke Road.
The vehicle left the road near the Thorburn Road intersection and hit a vehicle parked at a gas station, around 11 p.m.
No one in the parked car was injured.
Three teenaged passengers in the first car were taken to Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow, treated and released.
Earlier Saturday, two people died in a head-on crash on Highway 103, near Chester.
The crash happened in fog and heavy rain.
A 21-year-old man and 48-year-old woman were pronounced dead at the scene.
Friday night, a 67-year-old man died following a head-on collision on Barrington Street in Halifax.
His 61-year-old passenger sustained serious injuries that were not life-threatening and was rushed to hospital.
The 35-year-old driver of the other vehicle suffered life-threatening injuries and was also rushed to hospital.
Police said both vehicles suffered extensive damage and the cause remains under investigation.
