An Air Canada flight out of Halifax was delayed for four hours today because of a cat in the cockpit.
Toronto-bound flight 603 boarded early this morning, and one of the passengers brought a cat in a carrier into the cabin. Somehow, the cat got out, wandered the cabin, and into the cockpit.
“The cat managed to wedge itself down inside a panel into the wiring of the electronics — the avionics of the aircraft,” said Halifax International Airport Authority spokesperson Peter Purway.
So, off came the panel. Out came the cat. Then they had to make sure the kitty didn’t unplug or chew through anything.
Spurway says this is not a normal occurence. Not here. Not anywhere.
“This is the first that I’ve heard of it,” said Spurway.
The cat’s name is said to be Ripples, and the delay will ripple through crew and passenger schedules for the rest of the day.
