Skate the Common Marathon returns to Emera Oval

The Skate the Common Marathon is back at the Emera Oval this weekend.
There are the 5k, 10k and 25k races, and new this year, a triathlon that includes running, biking and skating.
The featured events are the 5k Big Ice Icebreaker Family race and 5k Big Ice Icebreaker Open for skaters 11 and over.
Registration will be capped at 60 skaters for each race.
The introductory level event will appeal to skaters of all ages, with any type of skates. The family race will be open to children, and adults accompanying children.
The Open will be for experienced skaters looking for a slightly more competitive race.
New this year is the 3K Top Blade Sledge Race for the sledge hockey players out there.
The event kicks off at 10:30 Saturday morning and run through Sunday.
