Three more beaches in the Halifax area have been closed because of poor water quality.
Halifax Regional Municipality has now closed Albro Lake in Dartmouth, Dandy Lake in Bedford, and Long Pond on Herring Cove Road for swimming after testing showed unacceptable levels of bacteria.
City spokesperson Janet Bryson tells News 95.7, the three areas join Dingle beach, Black Rock beach and Kinsmen beach on a list of closed areas.
“HRM regularly test the water quality at all of its supervised beaches and recent tests have shown the bacteria levels at these beaches exceed Health Canada swimming guidelines,” Bryson said.
Bryson said the heavy rain may have contributed to the high reading.
