Halifax kicks off Pride week

One of the biggest street parties east of Montreal will take over Halifax this weekend.
Rain or shine, Halifax Pride is sure to be a colorful event.
There are dozens of things to do, but one of the most popular events is the parade on Saturday afternoon.
It starts at 1:30 p.m., Pride spokesperson Adam Reid says it’s a celebration of the LGBTQ community.
“We also need to take time to remember the challenges we’ve faced,” explained Reid.
He adds planning the parade is such a huge task, they’re already planning next years.
“Things really start picking up after the new year,” said Reid. “I’d say it never stops.”
