The storm battering the Maritimes is expected to peak this afternoon.
It’s the wind that forecasters say will intensify.
The Eastern Shore, Cobequid Pass and much of Cape Breton is expected to see wind gusts close to 90 km/h this afternoon, while of the rest of the province will see gusts up to 80 km/h.
News 95.7 Meterologist Richard Zurawski says the wind is expected to peak mid-to-late afternoon.
“We’re looking at some coastal battering, we’re also looking at probably horizontal rain and reduced visibilities and coupled with the rain of course, it’ll be unpleasant out there,” said Zurawski.
The wind is expected to gradually die down this evening and into the overnight period.
20 to 40 millimetres of rain is expected over most of Nova Scotia by the time the storm tapers off.
