Halifax remains under rainfall warning, windy Monday expected

HALIFAX – The could be some extra obstacles on your drive to work Monday morning, as high winds have blown debris on to the street in various areas of the city.

Halifax remains under a rainfall warning as News 95.7 Meteorologist Richard Zurawski predicts another 40 to 50 mm of rain on Monday, along with wind gusts up to 70 km/h.

“You’ll be looking at reduced visibility, broken branches, garbage, that kind of stuff,” Zurawski said.

“Also, the potential for hydroplanning is there because of the heavy downpours.”

Zurawski said late Monday afternoon, a cold-front will take over giving Halifax a chance of thunderstorms while the thermometer plummets.

He said we could see flurries along with a slippery drive into work on Tuesday after the big temperature drop.

However, Zurawski expects the thermometer reading to be above normal again by the end of the week.
