HALIFAX – RCMP in Halifax have arrested a 33-year-old man and seized firearms following a search of a residence in the city on Friday. It started after RCMP received a complaint on November 10, after a number of threatening phone calls from a suspect were directed toward one man who told police he was concerned for his safety.
Investigators later searched a Halifax residence on Friday with officers seizing a 9mm handgun, two semi-automatic rifles, ammunition, a kevlar vest along with a quantity of cash.
Police say Samir Dib Elias of Halifax has been charged with a total of 35 criminal code offences including: intimidation of a justice system participant, uttering threats and numerous firearms offences.
Elias was held in custody and was scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court Monday. RCMP say the investigation is ongoing.
