HALIFAX – Three people from Montreal and one from the United States face fraud-related charges after attempting to use a fake credit card at a Halifax inn.
Halifax Regional Police say the four suspects were staying at the Chebucto Inn, when staff called police just after 2 p.m. Tuesday to report the guests were acting suspiciously and one of them made a questionable transaction with a credit card that was later determined to be fake.
Once on scene, investigators discovered counterfeit credit cards, credit card making equipment, and fake identification cards.
Three men in their 20’s and an 18-year-old woman each face charges of fraudulently obtaining lodging, possession of equipment to make a credit card, and four counts of possession of a counterfeit credit card. The woman also faces a charge of identity fraud.
The suspects are in police custody and are scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court Wednesday.
