Patient with knife prompts hospital lockdown

The Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre was placed in lockdown Monday afternoon after a report of a patient brandishing a knife.

Halifax Regional Police say multiple officers were called to Halifax Infirmary entrance on Summer Street at 12:43 p.m.

Responding officers quickly found and detained the patient.

Police say they found a folding pocket knife, but the patient did not use it to commit any criminal offences.

The lockdown was cancelled and the patient was released without charges.
