Canada Post is shutting down its Nova Scotia offices Monday, and says no mail will be picked up or delivered in the province due to flooding.
The carrier said the decision was made in the interest of the safety of its employees as the province continues to recover from significant flooding.
“Canada Post continues to assess the situation and options to best serve the people of Nova Scotia and keep them connected,” it said in a release. “As we do that, the safety of our employees is our number one priority.”
Canada Post is thanking people for their patience and says it will continue to provide updates as the situation evolves.
Canada Post is advising customers that it has issued a red service alert for the province of Nova Scotia due to severe flooding in the region.
