Construction to begin Monday at QEII emergency department

Nova Scotia Health says patients will notice some additional work going on at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre (QEII) over the next couple of months starting Monday, as renovations are getting back underway at the emergency department.

The health authority says patients will notice construction in the waiting room area and the work is expected to last about eight weeks.

It says the goal of the upgrades is to provide a better experience for patients and staff.

During construction, there will be a second patient advocate assigned to support patients and staff, and Nova Scotia Health says it will be working hard to minimize the impact the work will have on people in the ER.

The construction is part of the QEII redevelopment. That project was first announced in 2016 and the province recently announced the work won’t be completed before 2030.
