Charges laid after stabbing on Halifax Transit bus

Regional Police have laid charges after a passenger aboard a Halifax Transit bus was stabbed Sunday night.

Police were called to an area in the 2500 block of Robie St. around 10:20 p.m. in response to an incident that occurred on a bus. Investigators say a man approached the victim and stabbed him with a small pointed object before jumping off the bus and fleeing. Police believe that both the suspect and the victim are not known to one another.

The victim was taken from the scene to hospital by EHS for treatment of what police described as non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect was arrested by police a short time after the incident.

Adam Atkinson, 37, was scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court Monday to face one count each of assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.
