Blasting operations underway at the QE2 construction site

Construction at the QE2 Halifax Infirmary site is stepping up a notch with blasting starting Tuesday and continuing for the next few months, according to a release from the province.

Blasting will take place on weekdays until October.

Due to blasting operations, certain areas around the hospital, as well as, homes and businesses nearby, may feel mild vibrations and more noise than usual for about three to five seconds at roughly 3:30 p.m.

The province says three long air horn bursts will sound immediately before each blast. Then, afterward, one long air-horn burst will signify the all-clear.

The blasting operations are part of work on the expansion of the hospital site that began in March.
