The weather rollercoaster continues across the province on Monday.
The rain and above-zero temperatures that people saw for most of Sunday and through the overnight hours will taper off, and the mercury will plummet, dropping to -5 C by Monday afternoon in HRM.
Allister Aalders, 95.7 NewsRadio Weather Specialist, says the deep freeze will take over Monday night, with lows expected to hit -12 C, a drop of 20 degrees from Sunday’s high of 8 C. With the wind factored in during the overnight hours, it will feel like -22 C.
The cold will stick around on Tuesday, with a daytime high of -14 C, with the windchill.
“The coldest day right now looks like Wednesday with a mix of sun and cloud and only a high of -11 C,” said Aalders. “Factoring in the winds, it will feel like -21 C in the morning and -19 C in the afternoon.”
Aalders says the city will start to see a warm-up on Thursday, a sunny day with a high of -4 C.
All schools in the Chigecto-Central Regional Centre for Education in Cumberland County, Pictou County, Colchester County, and the municipality of East Hants, as well as all schools in the Annapolis Valley Regional Centre for Education and Digby County Schools within the South Shore Regional Centre for Education, were closed on Monday due to weather forecast and road conditions.
