The snow that Halifax Regional Municipality saw on Thursday night turned into a sloppy mess Friday morning with some rain in the forecast and temperatures above the freezing mark.
The attention now moves to Sunday as the latest winter storm is set to roll into the region.
Allister Aalders, 95.7 weather specialist, says a winter storm is currently tracking to pass near Sable Island on Sunday which will bring some snow to the area.
“In Halifax likely 5 to upwards of 10 centimetres of snow with better opportunities for over 10 cm along the South Shore and the southwest,” he said.
Aalders does caution that there is still some uncertainty in the storm’s track, and if it moves closer to mainland Nova Scotia there is a potential that those snowfall amounts could increase.
“Currently looks like a lighter snowfall event, but some breezy northeast to northwesterly winds generally gusting to 30-50 km/h will lead to areas of blowing snow and reduced visibility,” he noted.
The weather is expected to improve on Monday with clearing skies and temperatures near -7 C.
