Mooseheads defeat Voltigeurs, move on to second round of playoffs

The Halifax Mooseheads made history on Tuesday night as they became the first ever 16 seed in the QMJHL playoffs to make it to the second round, defeating the Drummondville Voltigeurs 2-0 in Game 7.
The Mooseheads opened the scoring late in the second period as Carlos Händel scored his first of the playoffs, receiving a pass from Brady Schultz and throwing the puck on net that found its way past Louis-Félix Charrois.
Liam Kilfoil added an empty netter with 50 seconds left in the game to claim history for the Herd.
Road to the playoffs
With the win, the Mooseheads are on their way to the second round where they will be facing the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies.
Jacob Steinman earned first star of the night, securing the win for the Herd with a 38 save shutout. Louis-Félix Charrois was awarded second star, making 21 saves for the Voltigeurs in the loss, while Carlos Händel received third star with the game-winning goal.
Round two for the Halifax Mooseheads begins on Friday, April 11 in Rouyn-Noranda for game one.
