Halifax man charged after child receives explicit message over social media

Regional police have charged a Halifax man with child luring offences.

On Sept. 1, police responded to a complaint that a child received a sexually explicit message over social media from a man she knew.

Police say the man then invited the child to meet with the intent of engaging in a sexual act.

According to HRP, the child shared the message with a trusted adult and did not meet with the man.

Cameron Copage, 24, was arrested on Thursday in Dartmouth.

He was scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court to face charges including luring a person under 16 years of age by means of telecommunication and breach of a probation order.

Anyone with information on child pornography is asked to contact HRP or Crime Stoppers.
