Firefighters made quick work of a brush fire in the Halifax area on Tuesday morning.
Crews were called to the fire near the Chain of Lakes Trail, in the area of Dunbrack Street and St. Margarets Bay Road, around 8:20 a.m., according to HRFE acting chief Dave Meldrum.
He said crews were able to quickly bring the fire under control.
No injuries were reported, and some crews were being returned to service as of 10:30 a.m.
“Conditions remain extremely dry and favourable for wildfire development – please stay vigilant and report any signs of smoke or fire immediately,” reads a social media post from Halifax Professional Fire Fighters.
The brush fire followed Monday’s record-breaking heat in the Halifax area that saw temperatures soar to near 30 C, far above the seasonal norm of around 15 C.
At approximately 8:57 this morning, #hfxfirefighters responded to a brush fire off the Rails to Trails near the St. Margaret’s Bay Road and Dunbrack Street area.
