Thanksgiving schedule changes and closures for Halifax

It’s not a statutory holiday in Atlantic Canada but Halifax will still experience some service disruptions and closures Monday as families gather to enjoy a large meal.
Retail and attractions:
Most grocery stores are closed Monday.
The Dartmouth Meat Market will be open. The storre may have holiday hours.
Many drug stores remain open Monday.
All NSLC stores will be closed.
The Halifax shopping Centre, Mic Mac Mall and Sunnyside Mall will all be closed.
Most municipally operated recreation facilities will be closed. The Sackville Sports Stadium will remain open Monday Oct. 13.
Client Service Centres:
The city’s 311 contact centre will be closed Monday. It will accept urgent calls only. Regular service will resume Tuesday Oct. 14.
Green bin, recycling and garbage collection:
There will be no curbside green bin, recycling, garbage or bulky item collection on Monday, Oct. 13.
The Otter Lake waste management facility and the municipal recycling facility will be closed.
Transit Services:
Bus and ferry service will run on a holiday schedule.
The first Alderney ferry trip will depart at 7:30 a.m. Oct. 13 from the Alderney terminal, and its last trip will depart the Halifax terminal at 11:45 p.m.
The Woodside ferry will not operate Oct. 13
Halifax Public Library:
- All branches will be closed.
Parking:
- On-street paid parking will be free Monday.
