Halifax residents who enjoy roller-skating, biking, and in-line skating have plenty to be excited about as the Emera Oval opens for the summer season.
According to the municipality, the Emera Oval will be opening at 11 a.m. Monday for the summer.
That means free equipment rentals, including bikes, scooters and skateboards, will be available as well as access to public washrooms and first aid stations. The municipality says helmets are mandatory for all users and are available for free to rent with valid identification.
HRM is reminding people that e-powered and segway-style equipment are not allowed on the Emera Oval for safety reasons, adding that the only exception is e-powered adaptive equipment.
On June 6, the city will also be hosting recreational day programming at the Oval from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., which will include face painting, balloon animals, carnival-style games, inflatables and a number of municipal program demonstrations.
Representatives from Halifax Regional Police, Halifax Tides FC, Speedy Kids, Disc Golf Nova Scotia and Athletics Nova Scotia will be in attendance.
