Teens arrested after attack on police, Transit supervisor

Regional police have five teens in custody after a scuffle on a transit bus that hospitalized the driver.
Metro Transit called in a disturbance on a bus at the Portland Hills terminal around 7:45 Tuesday night.
Staff Sgt. Barb Saunders says the kids were arguing about something and the driver had tried to break it up.
When police arrived, the incident turned physical.
“While an officer was trying to arrest one party, several other parties on the bus obstructed the arrest and assaulted the police officer,” she said.
A Metro Transit service supervisor tried to help the officer and was also attacked. Fortunately, Saunders says neither was seriously hurt.
“The Metro Transit (supervisor) was taken to hospital for observation, but there were no serious injuries,” she said. “The police member was not injured in any way either.”
One teen tried to run after throwing a rock through a police cruiser window, but a K9 unit soon caught up with him.
Police say charges are pending.
