Cruise ship worker sentenced on child porn charges

A cruise ship worker from the Philippines has been sentenced to jail for child porn.

24 year-old Jay Ar Ramos Trilles was arrested Tuesday after officers found images on a laptop computer.

He pleaded guilty yesterday to possessing and importing child pornography and was sentenced to 4 months on each count in the Burnside jail.

The Canada Border Services Agency says he’ll be deported after he’s released and added to the National Sex Offender Registry in Canada and ordered to provide a DNA sample.

The Crown attorney tells the Herald the offences are considered abhorrent and the agency is determined to keep child porn from entering Canada.
