People will begin moving into a new Pallet shelter village in Kentville on Wednesday, the provincial government said.
The Tiny Meadows village on Kentville’s Exhibition Street will include 20 units. The village is operated by the Open Arms Resource Centre which will provide services and support for the people living there.
Tiny Meadows is part of 96 new Pallet shelters opening in three locations across the province.
A location on Atlantic Street in Dartmouth is expected to open in the coming weeks, according to government. That 41-unit village will provide housing for older adults and seniors.
Another village in Pine Tree Park in Sydney will have 35 units and is expected to open in mid-September.
The provincial government has purchased 200 of the shelters from the company Pallet at a price tag of $7.5 million. The shelters include bed frames, mattresses and desks, according to government.
