Two arrested after weapons, drugs found in Halifax area

Two men have been arrested and charged following two search warrants executed in Porters Lake and Bedford.
According to a release from the RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment, RCMP officers, with the assistance of the Halifax Regional Police, searched a property on Boulder Hill Road in Porters Lake and an apartment in the 0-100 block of the Bedford Highway on Oct. 1.
During the searches, officers seized two loaded 9mm handguns, including one without the serial number, 10 long guns, switch blades, cocaine, MDMA, and drug paraphernalia.
The two suspects were safety arrested and have been identified as 30-year-old Nicolas Daniel Gaetz of Lake Loon and 32-year-old Devin James Colins of Porters Lake.
The RCMP says the two suspects are facing numerous firearms and drug related charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
Gaetz was held in custody and is set to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on Oct. 15. Colins has been released and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on Dec.10.
