Alert asking Colchester County residents to ‘shelter-in-place’ ends

Mounties have ended a “shelter-in-place” alert that was issued overnight for some regions of Nova Scotia.

The caution was issued overnight on Wednesday after members of the RCMP arrested one suspect but searched for another possibly armed suspect in Colchester County.

In the advisory, residents were asked to seek shelter, close and lock doors and windows as the search continues.

In a release, RCMP say two men, believed to be carrying handguns, were last seen in the Ice Pond Drive area of Salmon River.

Just after 7 a.m. on Wednesday, RCMP say the second suspect was located and taken into custody, and the weapon seized.

Further updates will be posted to the RCMPNS website and official social media accounts.
