Construction underway on NSCC Akerley Campus student housing

Construction has started on student housing at NSCC's Akerley Campus.
The affordable and accessible facility within walking distance to campus will one day be home to 100 students.
It's expected to open in the fall of 2024.
The project is part of a $112 million investment in student housing at three community colleges the province.
A 50-bed dormitory at NSCC's Pictou campus is also scheduled to open in September of 2024.
NSCC's Ivany Campus is getting a 200-bed residence.
The Department of Advanced Education says construction on that structure is set to begin. It's expected to welcome students in September of 2025.
The department's minister Brian Wong says they're “focused on developing a provincewide student housing strategy that will help address the housing needs of post-secondary students now and in the future.”
