Hurricane cash yet to fly back in full

The federal government still owes the Halifax Regional Municipality 5.4 million dollars for money spent on the Hurricane Juan Disaster Relief Fund.
The city says it was owed approximately $8 million under the federal government program but a portion remains outstanding since the hurricane hit Halifax in 2003.
Mayor Peter Kelly says that the city will receive the money once financial audits are finalized.
“They’re doing the final data collection. we need to clarify a couple of those expenditures and from there we hope to receive the balance in the near future,” says Kelly.
The category two hurricane hit Nova Scotia’s coastline on the night of September 29.
