Prime Minister confirms Truro visit

The Prime Minister will visit Truro today, and he’s expected to bring some welcome news.

Stephen Harper will make an announcement at 1:30 p.m. with Peter MacKay, Darrell Dexter, Truro Mayor Bill Mills and local MP Scott Armstrong.

Colchester County Mayor Bob Taylor says the announcement concerns federal funding for a new $50 million civic centre.

So far, Colchester and Truro are funding about $20 million between them.

Taylor says the federal funding is crucial to making the civic centre a reality.
