With just one year until the Halifax 2011 Canada Games, the push is on for organizers to get more than 5000 volunteers
“Without the volunteers, we can’t carry out these games, these games are essentially a community and volunteer driven performance,” says games chair Jean-Paul Deveau.
He says the games will be the largest volunteer-driven event ever held in Halifax.
Deveau says they need volunteers from all walks of life.
“From every community that we can touch, we want those people to come together to be able to put on these games, and we need virtually every skill set that is out there,” says Deveau.
Premier Darrell Dexter says the games will unify communities across Nova Scotia, and will spotlight the province as a winter and sporting destination.
