A cell phone saved the day for two hikers caught deep in the woods in Timberlea.
The husband and wife had hiked for six hours into a remote section of the Bluff trail in Timberlea.
The 34-year old woman began to convulse as she suffered from heat stroke.
Her husband used a cell phone to call for help.
Too far from a roadway, a search and rescue helicopter was sent to extract her.
She was brought to Point Pleasant Park, where she was taken to hospital by ambulance. She’s expected to be okay.
RCMP say this is a clear example of why a cell phone can help rescue efforts.
The hikers were on the difficult Hay Marsh Loop trail, which is part of the Bluff trail, near the Lake of the Woods subdivision, Hubley.
