Another sleepwatching incident has occurred in the South End of Halifax.
It happened Saturday morning at a Chestnut Street home where a number of young adults live.
Police spokesman Constable Brian Palmeter says the 20-year-old woman woke up to see the man touching her around 6:30 a.m.
“When she woke up she was a little out of sorts and was just startled by the man being in the apartment,” he said. “When he fled she then returned to her room. It wasn’t until she thought about it that she realized how serious it was.”
She waited over two hours to call police but Palmeter says that’s not that unusual.
“Everybody reacts to these situations in a different way,” he said. “While we would rather have been notified sooner we’re glad to have the information. We’re going to work with the complainant to obtain as much information as we can.”
The man got in through an unlocked door.
He’s described as a white male approximately 5’10” with a thin build and straight dark hair.
Palmeter says although the man touched her in a non-sexual area the fact there was touching worries police and could be a sign of escalation beyond just watching.
