Canada Day fun from dawn to dusk!

Canada officially turns 143 today!
Canadians across the country who are lucky enough to have the day off will be celebrating the nation’s birthday with backyard BBQs, picnics, parades and fireworks.
Here’s a list of events taking place in HRM:
– from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., free pancake breakfasts at Alderney Landing in Dartmouth and at the Grand Parade in Halifax.
– from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sackville Patriot Days, including fireworks, parade, concert, dances. Sackville Drive, Kinsmen Park, First Lake.)
– from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., Bedford Days, including live music, children’s entertainment, cake, face painting. DeWolf Park, Bedford Public Library, Bedford Legion, Scott Manor House.
– from 10:30 to about 11:30, Royal Nova Scotia Tattoo Parade, beginning at Artillery Park, weaving through downtown.
– 11 a.m., fly-past and 21-gun salute at Halifax Citadel. Free cake and admission to Citadel from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
– noon to 4 p.m., Great Canadian Family Picnic on the Common, including face painting, music and activities. Halifax Common near the skate park.
– from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Canada Day Band Concert featuring Alex Vaughan, Donna Scaglione and Ken MacKay of the Swell Guys. Public Gardens Band Shell.
– from 3 p.m. to midnight, Canada Rocks Free Concert featuring Joel Plaskett Emergency. Alderney Landing, Dartmouth.
– 10 p.m., Canada Day fireworks, Halifax-Dartmouth waterfront. In case of inclement weather, organizers will decide around 8 p.m. whether to proceed.
