Brindi the dog returned to owner

After a two-year legal saga, and a stint on death row, Brindi-the-dog has returned home to her owner.
On Friday owner Francesca Rogier got word that her dog would be permitted to return to her East Chezzetcook home if her fenced-in dog run was approved.
Rogier says Brindi, who is a little skittish and has some health problems from living in a kennel, is in good spirits.
“She’s doing okay, she’s so thrilled to be here,” says Rogier. “And she just wants to go out at any chance, she loves going out for walks.”
Brindi was on a muzzle order nearly two years ago when she attacked another dog. HRM Animal Control seized the dog and ordered it euthanized.
After a court battle, that order was eventually dropped and an April court decision ordered Brindi returned to Rogier after completion of training.
“She did pretty well with the training all the way through and in a kennel it’s not really easy to train a dog,” she says.
The muzzle order remains in place.
Rogier says the bill for the court battle has amounted to roughly $40,000. She says although she has immediate needs of completing house renovations that were put on hold while the court battle proceeded; she plans to pursue HRM for the legal fees.
“Because I think that $40,000 is a little too much in legal fees for something that shouldn’t have been handled that way,” she says. “I think it’s the city’s responsibility to have a law in place that offers people recourse so they can appeal decision.”
